Power BI Apps Configuration

Overview

ZAP has packaged a set of Power BI analytics for Unified Data Models, i.e. data models created with Unified Layers, which are available on Microsoft AppSource.

 

Note

Apps are free of charge and come with sample data so you can trial the app before connecting to your own datasets.

Power BI App Configuration

  1. Go to Microsoft AppSource and sign-in to your account.
  2. Click Get it now on the app you want to download.
  3. Click Install.
    1. To trial the app with the sample data, click Explore app.
    2. To connect the app to your Unified Data Model, click Connect.
  4. On the Data Connection pop-up, enter your Warehouse Server, Warehouse Name and click Next.
  5. To authenticate the database, select Basic for Authentication method, enter a valid User name and Password and click Sign in.
 

Note

Your database will automatically refresh and depending on its size, may take some time.

  1. Navigate to the Reports tab and open the report.
 

Note

You may need to refresh reports to see any new data.

 

Tips

  • Consider creating scheduled refreshes for your apps.
  • Reports can be edited directly in the Power BI workspace.
  • Contact ZAP Support to request access to PBIX files.

Edit or Reconfigure a Connection

  1. In the app workspace, open the Datasets tab.
  2. Click the Menu (...) and select Settings.
  3. Expand the Parameters section and update the Warehouse name, Warehouse server and click Apply.
  4. To authenticate the database, select Basic for Authentication method, enter a valid User name and Password and click Sign in.
  5. Return to the app workspace, open the Datasets tab and click the Refresh icon.
